On 2 November this year, Professor R.Alimov, Head of the Department of Practical Analysis of International Issues at the Diplomatic Academy, held a meeting with Andre Algermissen, Head of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation’s (Germany) Regional Programme for Central Asia.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the Foundation’s key areas of activity in the region, as well as the transformation of its priorities in light of the far-reaching political and socio-economic changes that have taken place in Uzbekistan and across Central Asia since 2017.
It was noted that the Foundation’s current activities focus on promoting regional integration, supporting ongoing reforms, strengthening youth leadership capacity, and fostering expert dialogue on pressing regional security issues. Particular attention was also given to the Foundation’s international initiatives implemented in cooperation with leading regional think tanks, including the Termez Dialogue on Afghanistan, the Forum of German and Central Asian Think Tanks, and the Fergana Peace Dialogue.
The meeting also focused on prospects for developing cooperation between the Foundation, the Diplomatic Academy and the Institute for Advanced International Studies under the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
Both sides expressed their interest in establishing systematic cooperation in research and expert analysis, organising joint international events, expanding academic exchanges, and engaging leading international scholars and experts in discussions on pressing issues of international relations, regional stability and security.
The importance of establishing a sustainable platform to deepen academic and expert dialogue, implement joint research initiatives, and strengthen international academic cooperation was also emphasised.
